ANDREW MILLER Director
Andrew is an award winning musical theatre and opera director and artistic director of Ocean Theatre Company.
He originally trained at Rose Bruford College achieving a BA (Hons) in Theatre Directing.
He has directed all 25 productions for Ocean Theatre including SWEENEY TODD, TITANIC, THE PIRATE QUEEN, SISTER ACT, LES MISÉRABLES, BEAUTY & THE BEAST, CHESS, DOCTOR DOLITTLE, an original musical: GEMINI and THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
In addition he has worked with Garsington Opera, National Youth Theatre of Wales and the London College of Music and as Assistant Director with Matthew Warchus (LORD OF THE RINGS workshop), Lucy Bradley (NO SOUND EVER DIES) and Timothy Shaeder (NINE). He was recently dramaturgical support for Nikolai Foster (ANNIE, West End).
As a freelance director he has worked in Australia, the USA and the UK on over 50 productions including 25TH PUTNAM COUNTRY SPELLING BEE (London), HEDGEHOG’S HOME (Paris), THE PERFECT CITY, (UK tour) CINDERELLA, DICK WHITTINGTON, OLIVER! (South Hill Park) and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE (on board The Golden Hinde).
TOM HORROX Assistant Director and Sound Designer
Tom started in theatre aged 15, helping backstage with CMP's PIRATES OF PENZANCE. This led to him working for lots of local companies in the years to come. He moved into sound in 2004 and went on to work professionally on touring shows and pantomimes over the next 15 years.
In 2012, Tom co-founded Mayan Productions which is a production company geared towards performing different and original shows. Since its inception he has produced and directed 5 shows in different venues and very much enjoys this side of theatre.
Tom is very much looking forward to assisting on RENT as this is one of his all time favourite shows and he has long wanted to work on this type of project.
KATRIN PADEL Lighting Designer
Katrin is a freelance Lighting Designer based in the UK.
Previous credits include RUBY REDFORT for Escapade; THE NAUGHTY FOX and …IF WE’VE NEVER BEEN TO THE MOON? for The Marlowe Theatre; JEREMIAH for Jack Dean; FIRE IN THE EVENING and TWILIGHT TRANSITIONS for The Little Orchestra; DOCTOR FAUSTUS for Tiger House Theatre; ROUNDS for Resuscitate; ASH for Bric à Brac; and WHERE THE HELL IS BERNARD? for Haste Theatre.
Katrin holds a first-class honours degree in Lighting Design from Rose Bruford and is a member of the Association of Lighting Designers.
HOLLY CANT Company Manager
Holly has worked within the photography and media industry for over fifteen years. Working for a number of regional, national and international newspapers and magazines she has covered breaking news, editorial features, current affairs, royal visits, as well as sporting events and celebrity shoots.
Combining her love of photography and travel, Holly moved to Africa and was on staff with the national newspaper of Ghana.
Holly started taking photographs as a child after her father set up a makeshift darkroom at home. She went on to study photojournalism at The University of Westminster.
She now runs a successful freelance photographic business.
Holly is a keen organiser, and spends a lot of her free time planning various overseas adventures!
EMILY LEATHER Musical Director
Emily graduated from the University of Leeds, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She works as a Music Director and Vocal Coach for a variety of theatre companies, opera houses and vocal projects.

Emily is an Associate Artist of the Royal Opera House and runs the Youth Opera Company children's chorus. Emily works as a workshop leader for Garsington Opera, Mahogany Opera, English National Opera, The Southbank Centre and the Royal Opera House.
Assistant Musical Director
Mark has been Musical Director around the area for several productions including THE ADDAMS FAMILY, AVENUE Q, SISTER ACT and MADE IN DAGENHAM. RENT is one of his favourite shows and he looks forward to working with Andrew and Emily again after playing for several shows with Ocean Theatre.
KEIRA SPRAY Stage Manager
Recent stage management graduate Keira is excited to be joining Ocean Theatre Company once again to be a part of 24 Hour RENT.
Having trained at Guildford School of Acting Keira is a freelance stage manager working on projects within musical theatre, dance, plays and events.
Her most recent credits include Ocean’s LEGALLY BLONDE, stage managing for The Yard Players at the Brockley Jack Theatre and acting as deputy stage manager on the Torch Theatre’s Autumn season including ONE MAN, TWO GUV'NORS and PINOCCHIO.
DAVID READ GBCT Videographer
David began his career at the National Coal Board Film Unit, one of the last great industrial film units which had a reputation for excellence and was associated with such talents as Lindsay Anderson and Karel Reisz. It was here that he was given his first opportunity of film lighting. When the unit closed he became a freelance camera assistant and worked on numerous productions including the feature films BRAZIL, DANCE WITH A STRANGER, CHAMPIONS and ANOTHER COUNTRY. His first opportunities as a Director of Photography in his own right began with such shows as WORLD IN ACTION , THE CLOTHES SHOW and EQUINOX.
The cult horror film, REVENGE OF BILLY THE KID was David’s feature film lighting debut, working with his long-time acquaintance Jim Groom who directed and co-wrote ‘Billy’. Jim and David later collaborated again on ROOM 36, a black and white thriller in the Hitchcock tradition, in which David's original and imaginative cinematography creates both atmosphere and menace. Room 36 was nominated for the Golden Hitchcock award at the Dinard British Film Festival and was nominated in several categories at the Syracuse International Horror, Science Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival including a personal nomination for David in the Best Cinematography category.
David has photographed feature films and worked on many television productions from dramas such as THE BILL, and FAMILY AFFAIRS to documentaries including WATCHDOG and THE MONEY PROGRAMME. He has photographed commercials, including Sony, Wintrillions and Nutty Bingo and many music videos for artists such as, Flesh for Lulu, the Fall and Doctor and the Medics, Mark Almond, Arthur Brown, The Damned, Odyssey, Toyah Wilcox and Rob Richings.
He recently taught a series of lighting masterclasses for ITN NEWS camera staff.
Recent feature productions include NO FRUIT AT THE BOTTOM directed by Mark Wilson, RESPECTABLE, THE MARY MILLINGTRON STORY, directed by Simon Sheridan, MAKING OF THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF directed by Jim Groom, MAKING OF BRIDES OF DRACULA and LEGEND OF HAMMER MUMMIES both directed by Don Fearney, ISLAND directed by Rehan Malik, DESPERATE MEASURES directed by Steve Looker, TAMLA ROSE directed by Joe Scott and ARCHIE directed by Sue Shearing. Documentary productions include THE ENEMY WITHIN about the 1984/5 miners' strike for Bad Bonobo Productions and a short film about the 200th birthday of Jane Austen for the British Council and another about Dylan Thomas.
Other notable productions photographed by David include the forthcoming documentary, 'Taylor Made - My Life in Lights' about the life and career of one of Britain's greatest cinematographers, Gil Taylor BSC.
